Characteristic places in Madrid that are important to visit.

Puerta del Sol. Madrid's emblematic place, where is the kilometer 0 and the clock which its bells marks the taking of the 12 grapes every January 1st at 00 hours.

Plaza de Oriente. Is situated on the east of the Royal Palace. With an impressive garden and charm, Plaza de Oriente is an interesting place to visit.

Plaza Mayor. You can find it in the center of Madrid. It is one of the most interesting places to visit in the city, has a rectangular shape and is used for various activities such as the last stop of the Reyes Magos.

Plaza de España. One of the most important places of Madrid. It is situated in the center and consists of a small park, where we find a curious fountain dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes.

Plaza de Colón. Located between the Paseo del Prado and Serrano is a very interesting place to visit. In it we find a small park with a curious fountain with a theater inside.

Templo de Debod. Egyptian Temple located in the east of the Plaza de España. It was donated by Egypt to Spain thanks to the Spanish aid. It has 2200 years and brought stone by stone from there.

Fuente de Cibeles. Situated at the Plaza de Cibeles, being very near of the Puerta de Alcalá. It is mainly characterized by being where the supporters of the Real Madrid celebrate their titles.

Puerta de Alcala. Monument located at the Independence Square, opposite the Parque del Retiro. It was made by Fernando Sabatini to perform the functions of a door properly.

Museo del Prado. This is the most important museum in Madrid. It's in front of the Parque del Retiro. It hoards thousands of works of the most important painters and sculptors in history.

Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. One of the most famous and renowned museums of Madrid. Shows significant works by important artists and monographs as well.

Museo Reina Sofia. Important museum in Madrid which exposes great works like the Guernica, by Pablo Picasso.
